Catching Up
Well the trip is over. I went to Skagway, spent the night and rode up to Whitehorse Y.T. the next day. It was a beautiful ride. We spent the night there, although there is nothing to see or do of any great interest. I got my M/C serviced the next day and rode back to Skagway. I saw W.P. & Y. #73 in steam. It pulled 16 cars up from the cruise ship docks and swapped them for three Alco diesels. Very stimulating. We spent the night and caught the Malispina to Ketchikan. It was overnight and relaxing. We got off in Ketchikan, staying at the Super 8. Noisy and hot. We bailed the next day to the Narrows Inn, about 5 miles north. Ketchikan is fun and we saw eagles, salmon and great food. We caught the Columbia back to Bellingham WA. I dropped MR off at the airport and rode back to Everett. I saw an aircraft carrier at the docks and began to ride US2 east to Spokane WA. It was cold, but once I crossed the Cascades it got as hot as hell all the way home. I rode into Idaho and down US95 the next day. I spent 24 hours in Nampa, drinking beer. I continued south on 95 and ran into Dean Tanji on the road. Small, small world. I moved on to I80 and rode into Reno. I spent two nights gambling there. It was great. Ted and I visited the museum in Portola and drove to Keddie Wye. Little action. I left on Tuesday and rode over Sonora Pass at 9600 feet. I spent the night in Sonora with Dave and Imelda. Fun time. I rode home to HB on Wednesday. It was very hot on the way home. All-in-all I rode 3800 miles in 23 days. Great fun!!
