High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

Gearing up for the Grand Canyon trip on 3751.  The engine is ready to go.  The brake valve has been shipped to PAB and will return in a week.  We have a rules class next Saturday afternoon.

Yanks are OK but an old old team.  The youngest starter is 31.

The railroad group had it's annual trip to San Bernardino this weekend.  We got the engine out and back in good fashion.  I rode the diesel out to SB and fired it to Eighth St. in LA.  It was extremely hot in SB.  I was exhausted by the end of the day Sunday.  We put the engine away and will probably have to cover it on Tuesday because a rain storm is coming. '

The Amtrak guy WP is not a real nice guy.

We have had some real lousy weather lately. It really rained a couple of times this month. It seemed like January. We are ramping up for the San Bernardino trip. We had our hydro inspection on Thursday the 12th. It seems that all the staybolts were not drilled out and it was embarassing to the group. We will not make that mistake again.

Yesterday (14th) we cleaned out the smoke box and plugged the staybolts with wallboard mud. Long, filthy, tiring day. We will fuel and water the locomotive on Wednesday and fire up on Thursday. Inspection on Friday and off we go.

Went to dinner with Jessica and MR last night at the Pizza Lounge. Fun night but I was exhausted.

We had a busy weekend going to a graduation party and AT's brunch run. Really fun time. I was back to the railroad club on Monday. We are sure glad to be back there. I have been very busy with the 3751 and getting a series of doctor's appointments finished. I will see Chen, Menzies and blood work all this week.

MR is looking for a new refrigerator.
