High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

MR is in Buffalo with her mom. She went to a reunion and has been catching up with old friends. I worked on the engine on Saturday for a few hours and came home early. On Sunday AT had the annual brunch run. I took Nancy B. for a guest. Nice time. Ride was cool and windy.

My computer had a bunch of viruses and I had to call out the Geek Squad to fix it.

Friday night I went to dinner with the CCW group. Usual bs.

I have an eye doctor's appointment today and I am going shooting tonight. No railroad club.

It was on this day that we rode the last NKP steam passenger train out of Buffalo. 4-6-4 #175 pulled the train to Cleveland and back to Conneaut, Ohio. There, 2-8-4 #763 replaced 175 for a fast ride home. A long time ago in a place far away.

Yanks pulled off a great comeback against Boston last night with two two-run homers in the bottom of the ninth. Wow!

Spent Saturday cleaning up 3751. Quite a bit of work. It is raining today and we didn't wax the rods. This Saturday will be a lot of cleaning.

Great weekend in San Bernardino. We took 3751 out there for a centennial celebration. We took the MetroLink line that runs in the center of I10. The engine was great and I had a couple of shots as spot fire watch.

On Friday I was on the fire up crew and did spot fire watch until steam was up. When it was time to move the engine to 8th street, Bob K. told me I was firing her. What a thrill. I think I did fine because he complimented me on it after the excursion.

Who would have guessed.

I had a great weekend. I was on the 3751 excursion to San Diego. My job was tender monkey on the way down and back. I shot the rod at the layover in SD. Very tiring three days. On to San Bernardino next weekend. I don't know what the job will be, but there are only six of us riding.

The Yanks are playing well for April/May even though several of the big guys aren't hitting. They were 5-1 on this homestand. Day off tomorrow and on to Boston and Detroit.
