High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

This was an a roller-coaster week. On Wednesday night the AHOC met at Cook's for a "story-telling" session in memory of Rick H. About 40 people showed up and it was a great time. On Thursday I got the news that Crazy George was in a M/C accident and was in critical condition. I spent the day at County hospital and the neurosurgeon wasn't all that positive. This is really a bummer!

I was on the road for 15 days. I rode to Sturgis with the AHOC going to Flagstaff the first day. The next day we rode to Green River UT up through Monument Valley. Real nice. The third day we rode to Green River WY and drank in the usual bar near the railroad yard. The fourth day we holded up in Buffalo WY and finally into Sturgis on the 9th. I stay in town on Douglas Street. It is no longer worth it. Over priced and less amemities. MR flew in and we hung out in Sturgis each night. We went to Deadwood to see the group for a day and we left for Yankton SD. We met the Waters family at the Ice House. We had dinner at the Black Steer. Great meal! We moved on to KC MO getting rained on from Council Bluffs IA. It was really bad in KC. We got a motel and dried out. On Sunday we went to the HST Presidential Library. Excellent day! We had ribs that night in the Smokehouse. All-in-all a great visit. On Monday we rode US50 to Garden City KS. It rained on us a bit. On Tuesday we rode to Chama NM and got hailed on badly. A local woman stopped for us to let us ride out the storm in her car. Great lady. We ran into Dan and Bob and drank at Fosters. The C&TS is only running one train a day.
Hmmmm! We rode to Gallup NM the next day and got rained on again. Bad luck! From Gallup to LA it was fine.
MR is a real great lady to ride all this way.
