High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

We really had a busy week with Chris B. staying for four days. it was a lot of fun. We had lunch with Linda and Dana on Wednesday and dropped Chris off at the Amtrak station in the afternoon. The market sucked late in the week, dropping about 700 points. That hurt. We won at Softball last Monday. One more game to go this summer. Tonight I have the CCW training at 5 pm in M.V. They started building the wall in the back yard also.

We had a great weekend. We stopped for a drink at the Lodge Friday night. That is like a trip into the past, particularly when you havn't been there in a while. On Saturday night we went to Bob and Jo Anne S.'s for a dinner party with some members of the GJ. A real nice evening. Sunday night we had dinner at Dan and Gay's with Bob and Char. Also a real nice night.

The US Surfing Open is over and that is good news. The traffic on PCH was a nightmare. Hurry up September.

yesterday was MR's B-day. We had a great weekend. Chris from MN was in and will be here until Wednesday. I really made some progress with the layout. I have the new curve foundation in. I have to place one more support, painted the roadbed and begin to lay the track. I have a switch on order and that should be in this week.

We have a softball game tonight at 7:45. I guess we are going to play again in the fall. Time to round up the money.

Next Monday I take the personal combat training course. This will be different.

The boys are taking off for points north on Friday. It is hot and rainy all along the route. I am glad I am not going.

I am home from the trip. I logged 5978.5 miles in 20 days. I rode in 11 states and knocked off three for the "one-week catagory. Missouri, Kansas and Indiana are done. I added Kentucky and Iowa to the 3-day catagory and Oklahoma to the 5-day catagory. If you don't understand this drivel, one of my life goals is to spend at least seven days and nights in each of the 50 states. The stays don't have to be consecquitive, but must total more than 168 hours. (7x24 hours). Anyway I have 38 states under my belt. I also finished my ride on US50 Highway from coast to coast. It rained a lot on me but that didn't seem to be a big problem. I stayed in Holbrook AZ, Raton NM, Garden City KS, Abilene KS, St. Louis MO, Morris IL, Sullivan IN, Owenboro, KY, Ft. Wayne IN, South Bend IN, Chicago, IL, Des Moines, IA, Whicita, KS, Elk City, OK, Grants, NM and Kingman, AZ. I am supposed to ride "North" with the AHOC but I am not going. I am taking the personal combat gun training at the end of July and have a number of parties to attend. Life is tough.

A lot has happened since the last post. I am no longer on the GJ as of 7/2. It was a good year. On the 26th of June I left on the MC for Illinois. I rode through AZ,NM, CO, KS, MO and IL. It rained on me and the heat in the southwest was terrible. But I made it. MR flew into Chicago on the 2nd of July and we have been holed up in Morris IL. The reunion is fun. We are leaving on the 5th of July for Indiana and Kentucky. I drop MR off at the airport on the 10th and on the road to CA. Interesting times.
