High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

What is going on?  The Surf meet starts today.  Lasts until next Sunday.  They have cut it back from last year dumping the booze sales, skateboard park and free concerts.  Police are all geared up for any trouble.


Celebrated MR's BD last night at the Watertable restaurant in the Hyatt-Regency hotel.. Very nice with a $200+ bill.  WTH!


Gearing up for our cruise on the 8th of August. 


Cleaning out the reefer at work. Lots of old books and junk to get rid of.

For the  last week I have been noting the 50th anniversary of my moving to California.  On this day 50 years ago I arrived in California.  We had driven in from Holbrook AZ.  I remember how hot it was driving across the desert.   Four days from Buffalo.  I was both excited and home sick for my friends, especially Mary Rose.  I never thought I would see her again.  Funny how things work out.


It surely has been  quite a  trip for the last 50

The fourth was the usual drunk for the city.  Fireworks all night, loud parties with amplifiers spewing profanity.  Next year if I am around for the day I will put the dogs in the kennel or simply get out of t own.


Yanks are stinking it up as per usual.

It is the day before the big July 4th day here in Surf City.  Tomorrow night is fireworks night and the dogs are bummed. 


MR and I have begun to strip down the front apartment for painting and new floors.  This will take a  while as I have to knock down the layout.  I should take a bunch of pics for reference. 


A month from now were are off to Spain and Portugal.
