High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

We had a busy weekend with the Elks Chili Cook-off and the AHOC swap meet gathering. We lost at softball last night with only eight players. Lots of guys bs'n their way. The new dog is a bit of a pain, but it is getting better. The chip company who placed the chip in Tally is not real easy to get along with, especially trying to change the ownership. What a drag. Everyone wants to portect the dog, but no one is realistic about ownership. Like I would steal the mutt and try to have ownership transferred to me. Duh!

MR has been great with this though. A real trooper.

Busy weekend. On Friday and Saturday I moved JenG. It was hot and tiring. Sunday was another very long day with the Thunderation Poker Run. I was up at Cook's @ 8 a.m. working with the AHOC and the poker run. It seemed to work out fine. I don't know what the take was, but we made a few bucks.

Softball is another matter. Last night only three of us were at the diamond at game time and two others were late. We forfeited again, but this time I didn't pay the umpire. I am getting a little tired of shelling out forfeit money. Woody and Dennis left the team and I think it is time for me to go. It had to end sometime.

This dog we got is getting to eat furniture. My suggestion is to toss out the dogs all day and forget about them. We will see.

It has been a very interesting week. We have a new dog that was going to the pound. She is a big shepard/husky/wolf mix. I don't know if she had a name, but I named her Tally Rose. She is supposed to be house-broken, but that is in the wind. She loves the dog park and has attached herself to MR. She is still a bit skitterish around me.

We had an interesting weekend with Candace's wedding and the Matta's 40 anniversary. Great day. Sunday we kicked back but Monday was interesting. Monday night was a AT planning meeting at Cook's Corner. We are ok there. Tuesday night Mo, Lynn, MR and I went to the Aloha Grill for dinner. Over to Perq's for a nightcap. The wine-tasting group was there. All-in-all busy.

Here it is, August, and HB is the most noisy place around. They are building Pacific City at the end of the street and the pile driver starts at 7 am until 4 pm. Bang, bang, bang. Someone drown last night and the news helicopters were all here at sunrise, rattling around for no good reason. I called KABC-TV and bitched and the bitch on the other end called it "breaking news". What is that all about? I really wonder how many people care if someone dies in HB?

I finished my training classes last night. Good!. I also visited the GJ for an interview on Monday. Today we are going to the movies. The layout is coming along fine. Setting up the turnouts is really time-consuming. What the hell, all I have is time.
