High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

We ran down to San Diego on the MCs with the AHOC and visited the USS Midway Musuem. Really a fine time. The ride was fast. 80+ sometimes. MR doesn't like that kind of speed. Speaking of Speed, he was there. Our politics don't mesh well so it is best to say nothing.

I went in after the District made me a deal I couldn't refuse. I am going to teach two AP Econ classes, periods 4 & 5. I am in my old room, G-2. It was a pig sty. I clean in a bit. MR also has us on the South Beach diet. No boooze for 2 weeks. Rats!

I went over to WHS for lunch today in the science dept. Nice time. Yesterday was an eye-opener at the auction for professional kitchen equipment. MR seemed to enjoy it. I am the Lodge host this week and we are having dinner there tomorrow night. BBQ Tri-tip!!! Yum! We won at softball on Monday with only 9 guys. We have to really get a couple of more reliable players. The market has been down for a couple of days. Lost a bit of $$$.

It has been a quiet week so far. The only fun I had was at the American Thunder meeting on Tuesday night. They had a good crowd and the meeting was well organized. JG was there and asked for a ride somewhere. I doubt MR would approve. We are going to have a Rick Haslett memorial ride on Saturday. It has been three years since he passed. I will not be able to go to Yuma this year as the Inaugural Ball is the same weekend. I have to attend. Rats!
Monday night we went to the RR club. Boring night.

Great day yesterday. MR and I went to LA with K & L on Metrolink. We bought an all-day Metro pass and took the subway up to Hollywood Bl. We found an old restraurant called Musso and Franks and had a couple of bloody marys. Afterward we took the subway back downtown for lunch. The train was filled with Texas rooters going to the Rose Bowl game. After lunch at Phillippe's we boarded the subway again to the Biltmore Hotel at Pershing Sq. After a round here we trekked back to Union Station for the ride back to the OC. After dinner I went to the BW to watch the game. Great game, a masterpiece!. Texas beat SC in the last 20 seconds 41-38. I'll bet they wooped in up in Austin last night. All-ain-all a great fun day.

Running steam on the Nevada Northern RR near Ely, NV 

Thankfully the holidays are over. I must have gained five pounds and was under the weather several times. Not good!. It rained like hell yesterday on the Rose Parade. I saw Mary Jon M. on the TV. HBT! Drove along PCH at the height of the storm. Great surf and tide plus horizontal rain. Easy day today. Going to LA tomorrow and San Diego Saturday. New year, new ideas.
