High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

Not a good week for friends and family. Good friends jammed up and my cousin Joel in ICU with unknown malady. Hope for the best.

Weather is warming up a bit. Looking forward to a couple of vacations. All is well on the home front although friends have some problems.

Going to a potluck today.

It was a busy weekend with the engine. I put in very long days Thursday and Friday, spot firing on the latter. The engine looks great. On Saturday we rode out to SB and all was well. Sunday I spot fired a bit and, of course, the fire went out. We had a lot of trouble with water in the oil. I rode the cab back to LA and with one memorable stop at CP Fremont were we had to stop for a meet. The startup was great.

On a very down note D&G were arrested yesterday. The charges are horrific. I know they are innocent.

MR got us two cheap tickets to Atlanta next month. Figure on spending a couple days in Asheville NC, and at least three in Orange Beach Alabama. We havn't been away since September. The engine is full of water, lubed and ready to steam up. We have a lot of cleaning to do plus run some tests. After that, San Berdo here we come. It has been a very chilly winter. Here we are in the second week of April and we havn't warmed up yet. It is not unexpected, but we really didn't have much of a summer last year. later

Rode with American Thunder out to the Palm Springs Air Museum. Wonderful place to visit and see a lot of WW2 aircraft. We crawled through a B-17. Amazing that anyone would fly to Germany in those. Thin aluminum skin, very cold flying and little chance for escape if shot down. In fact there were 12000 B-17s built and 5000 shot down. That is 50,000 airmen. It was very windy out in the desert. Not a lot of fun riding in it. YD
