High Iron and Rollin' Thunder

We had a real great Christmas. MR was generous to a fault. Clothes, books, art work. All great!
I got her athletic shoes, Ughs, a flat-screen tv for the kitchen, a DVD and gift cards to B&N and Starbucks. WE had dinner at the Shepard's after a dinner at McKenna's in Long Beach on the evening before. All real nice. Melinda and Don came down for a day. All was fun. I have been exercising and all that good stuff for the last couple of weeks. It has been difficult to keep off the weight but I am holding my own. It may be a quiet NYE.

It has been pretty cool the last few days. It doesn't eaven warm up during the day. We had a party weekend. We went to Uzzi's on Friday, Mo's, Carol & Tom's and Pam & Ed's on Saturday. Whew! Yesterday I vegged out. I have most of my shopping finished. I also won a NKP Berk on ebay. The world can be good. This is an interesting week. The GJ isn't meeting but I am going to visit a few places to catch up. We have Xmas Eve dinner with the AH group and are having Xmas dinner at Dan and Gay's All-in-all a busy week. I need to ride a train

Today is JFK's birthday. Not the Prez!!! Busy week last week. On Saturday the AHOC had their annual xmas party at Ron's. Nice time. MR left for a high tea. I went home an hung out at the dog park and all that stuff. I ran into KW's daughter at the dog park. Nice lady. On Sunday we rode up to LA for the skid row toy run. Very busy on the freeway. We had a start when a VW bug cut us off. I rode around, but Mo on the back was shaking. She calmed down and we moved on to Mother's after a stop at the Office. All in all it was fine.

I got tickets for The Who on Feb 26, this after the Styx on Feb 25. I will be one tired puppy after. I went an saw Jim C. in hospice. Not good!. CMac also has turned up with breast cancer. Shit! Life is ducking bullets.

Time to move on with the Lodge. MR did the xmas toy party for the kids. Worked well but I think it is the last time. Sounds like an old Rolling Stones song.

We had a really neat experience with four couples hiring a chef and server for a four-course meal. The new word of the day is "Terrwar", a french word that has no exact translation into English. The rough meaning is the "sum of all the local environment that produces something uniquely original from the area", such as a wine that comes from one specific vineyard grapes, rather that an area's grapes. Or something of that sort.

The holiday season is upon us and the parties are flowing with food and booze. I must watch myself this season and keep the weight off. The weather has been winding and warm then cool. The war sucks as does Bush.

The Lodge is it's usual mess. I have less than four months to go. Never, never, never again.
